SOFFIANTINO Giacomo
Turin, 1929-2013
At the Albertina Academy in Turin he is a student of Maggi, Menzio and Calandri. With Ruggeri and Saroni he forms the Piedmontese group of abstract expressionist painters. He participated several times in the Venice Biennale between 1956 and 1972 and exhibited at the Rome Quadriennale and the SΓ£o Paulo Biennale in Brazil (1964). Graphic expert and engraver, he teaches in various locations including the Free Nude School of the Albertina. After the informal period of the sixties and seventies, he turns to naturalistic poetics of the real world, treated with a refined technique.
