MIGLIARA Giovanni

Alessandria, 1785 - Milan, 1837 Painter, etcher, lithographer. In Milan from 1801-02, he studied at Brera, working as a set designer's assistant up to 1810, when an illness forced him to concentrate on painting at the easel and fixΓ©s (oils on silk applied to glass). His landscapes, both natural and of neo-Medieval inspiration, of areas and historical buildings in various parts of Italy were much appreciated, with many imitators. In 1833 he was appointed "genre painter" by Carlo Alberto.
