CHERCHI Sandro
Genova, 1911 - Torino, 1998
Sculptor. After studying at the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti, in 1936 he moved to Milan, where in 1938 he was a founder member of the 'Corrente' group. From then on his style became rugged, abandoning descriptive work and twentieth century monumental sculpture, and his sense of matter led him to the abstract style of Art Informel in the post-war period. He taught in the Accademia Albertina in Turin.
