RUGGERI Piero
Turin, 1930
He trained at the Turin Accademia Albertina and began exhibiting in 1953. He exhibited abstract-Expressionist works at the France-Italy Contemporary Painters shows (1955, 1957, 1960), emerging as a key exponent of the matter-gestural style of Art Informel. He then began to reduce his range of colours, with black or red dominating. This use of a single colour is evident in works focusing on a figure in a landscape, a constant theme throughout his oeuvre.
