DE PISIS Filippo (Tibertelli Luigi Filippo)

Ferrara, 1896 - Milan, 1956 Painter and writer. In Ferrara from 1916 he encountered De Chirico, CarrΓ  and Savinio. Self-taught, his works have a metaphysical approach. In Rome from 1920 he worked on 'La Ronda' ['The beat'] and 'Valori Plastici' ['Plastic Values']. He developed his own personal chromatic 'shorthand', a kind of light impressionism with little touches of meagre colour. From 1925 he was in Paris, one of the key 'Italiens'. In 1940 he worked in Milan, then in Venice, to constant critical acclaim.
