MIGLIARA GiovanniAlessandria, 1785 - Milan, 1837
Painter, etcher, lithographer. In Milan from 1801-02, he studied at Brera, working as a set designer's assistant up to 1810, when an illness forced him to concentrate on painting at the easel and fixés (oils on silk applied to glass). His landscapes, both natural and of neo-Medieval inspiration, of areas and historical buildings in various parts of Italy were much appreciated, with many imitators. In 1833 he was appointed "genre painter" by Carlo Alberto.
