GAMBA Enrico

Turin, 1831 – 1883 Painter, younger brother of the landscape painter Francesco, he studied at the Accademia Albertina in Turin and, in 1850-1851, at the Stadelsches Kunst Institut in Frankfurt. He took study trips to Northern Europe and Italy, to Venice and Rome. With I funerali di Tiziano he established himself as a romantic history painter, but also dealt with the themes of portraiture and landscape. From 1856 he taught figure drawing at the Accademia Albertina.
