CREMONA Italo

Cozzo Lomellina (Pavia), 1905 - Turin, 1979 After graduating in Jurisprudence in Turin he began painting and wrote prolifically. An independent artist, he was nonetheless influenced by the terse volumes of Casorati, and adopted a symbolic, descriptive style with a vein of irony, mixed with bizarre results and surreal figures, along with objects from his private life and the scene in Turin. Between 1937 and 1949 in Rome he worked in film (scripts, screenplays, costumes, and scenery). A friend of Maccari, he contributed to "Selvaggio" and numerous magazines with articles on art, literature and culture.
