RAMA Carol
Turin, 1918-2015
Her first watercolours date back to the end of 1930's, and are dominated by a cruel, hallucinogenic erotic tension. After the war she joined the MAC, adopting an abstract language later blended with a treatment of matter with Art Informel influences. In the 1960's she began adding nails, glass eyes, syringes and needles to her work, followed by tyres, cut and applied to canvas. A reserved, eccentric figure, she only rose to international fame in the 1980's.
