GASTALDI Andrea
Turin, 1826 -1889
Painter and fresco artist. Little is known about his training. In 1850-51 he travelled to Florence and Rome to study, then to Paris, where he adopted moderate French Romanticism. His painting leaned towards historic and literary subjects. Once back in Turin in 1860 he became professor of painting at the Accademia Albertina. Numerous national and international exhibitions (Paris, London, Dublin, Vienna and Philadephia).
