TANCREDI (Parmeggiani Tancredi)Feltre (Belluno), 1927 - Rome, 1964
Painter. He attended the Libero del Nudo course in Venice. Debut in 1949. His initial works were neo-Cubist abstracts. He met Peggy Guggenheim in 1951 and set up his workshop at her house. In line with American gestural painting, he developed his own chromatic automatism. He moved to Milan in 1955, in contact with the artists of the 'Cobra' group, and after the 1960's, influenced by the work of Munch, returned to larval, grotesque figures (Facezie [Witticisms], Matti [Madmen]).
