Affori (MI) 1800 – Milan 1867
Painter and restorer, he studied drawing at the Brera Academy, following the lessons of Giuseppe Longhi, and restoration in Bologna, under Giuseppe Guizzardi. After stays in Parma and Rome, he returned to Milan and became a consultant for Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli, as well as for the Louvre and the British Museum. In 1854 he took up the post of curator of the Brera Art Gallery. Since 1825 he has created genre scenes and portraits in Milan, such as the famous one by Alessandro Manzoni, performed jointly with Massimo d'Azeglio. He frequently exhibited in Brera between 1828 and 1859 and at the Promoters of Turin.
