DE GUBERNATIS Giovanni Battista

Turin, 1774 – 1837

Painter and etcher. High official of Napoleon's administration, then for the Savoys, he was an amateur watercolour painter and etcher. His delicate objectivity was inspired by Bagetti. Through D. Vivant Denon he exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1812, and was awarded the gold medal. He bequeathed almost all his works to the City of Turin.
