BURATTI Domenico

Nole Canavese (TO), 1881 – Torino, 1960

Painter and poet, he followed Giacomo Grosso’s lessons at the Accademia Albertina and began his activity in the early 1900s. He exhibited at a very young age at the Paris Salon, then at the  Promotrice in Turin and at the Quadrennial in Rome. He looked al Bistolfi’s Symbolism and Pellizza’s humanitarian socialism. At the beginning of the second decade of the century, a long crisis hindered his activity. He met the painter Vittoria Cocito, a pupil of his friend Cesare Ferro and promoter of an artistic/literary cenacle, who will become his wife. After the Second World War he was among the founders and teachers of the Free Academy of Fine Arts.
