ANSELMO Giovanni

Borgofranco d'Ivrea (Turin), 1934

Self-taught, between 1959 and 1964 he experimented with oils, later abandonning traditional techniques in favour of installations using stone, fustian, magnets and cables to interpret concepts of physics and dynamics (such as stasis, balance, tension and gravity) focusing on the polarity between energy and inertia, including on a conceptual level. In 1967 he became part of the Arte Povera group. He has taken part in many international Exhibitions, including the Biennale in Venice, where he was awarded the Leone d'Oro for painting in 1990.
