MERZ Mario

Milan, 1925 - 2003 He broke off studying classics to begin painting, self-taught. In Turin, after an abstract-concrete phase, he adopted Art Informel. In 1965-66 he created his first three-dimensional installations. In 1967 he became part of the Arte Povera movement, combining natural materials (wood, leaves, earth, stone, wax) with glass and neon, often in the archetypal igloo shape. He uses Fibonacci numbers to express the growth of organic energy. His works are present in prestigious Italian and foreign museums.
