Biography

He studied at the Accademia Albertina in Turin and started exhibiting in 1953. He showed abstract-expressionist works at the Pittori d'oggi Francia-Italia exhibitions (1955, 1957, 1960) and emerged as an important exponent of material and gestural Informal Art. He then reduced his range of colours, concentrating mainly on blacks and reds. Monochromy has returned in works that hark back to figures in landscapes, a constant theme in all his art.
