Biography

In the late 1930s she made her first watercolours, characterised by their cruel, hallucinatory erotic impact. After the war she joined "MAC", adopting an abstract style to which she later added informal textural impastos. In the 1960s she inserted fingernails, glass eyes, syringes and needles into her works and, later on, tyres cut and applied to the canvas. A secluded and eccentric personality, she rose to international fame only in the 1980s.
