Biography

In his first paintings in the late 1950s he used reflective paints and focused on the human figure. In 1962 he began to apply photographically enlarged figures onto mirror surfaces. He drew close to Arte Povera, and later (1968) founded the "Zoo" group, which turned to theatrical and ephemeral actions. He then returned to the theme of reflection, before moving on to a monumental form of sculpture, using both perishable materials and marble. He is the director of the "Cittadellarte Fondazione Pistoletto", set up in Biella in 1998.
