Biography

After graduating in Law in Turin, he took up painting and embarked on an intense activity as a writer. An independent artist, but influenced by the terse volumes of Casorati, he expressed himself through a symbolic and descriptive form of painting tinged with irony, combining figures and objects from his home and from Turin in whimsical, surreal works. From 1937 to 1949, he devoted himself to the cinema (stories, scripts, sets and costumes) in Rome. A friend of Maccari, he contributed to Il Selvaggio and many magazines with articles on art, literature and society.
