Biography

A painter and sculptor and an eminent figure in the art world of Turin and Italy. In 1918 he moved towards the art of Venturi, Gobetti and Gualino in Turin, becoming a leading cultural personality of the local avant-garde. His painting took inspiration from the Secessions, Expressionism and Metaphysical Art, recomposing it, with few let-ups, in a tense Apollonian order, in which the lessons of the Italian Renaissance came together in volumetric abstract harmonies. In 1952 he became the director of the Accademia Albertina in Turin.
