RAMELLA Giorgio

Turin, 1906 – 1991

Painter. After the Accademia Albertina in Turin, he debuted in the 1960's with abstract Art Informel canvases, followed by works with a clearer geometric feel. In the 1970's he returned to representational art, with rarified, empty living spaces, before turning to landscapes featuring violently lit backgrounds in the 1980's. In subsequent years his painting, alternating between abstract and representational work is characterised by a painstaking attention to colour.
