He attended the Accademia Albertina and debuted in 1963 with works which play with technology and man-made materials (Macchine per il futuro [Machines for the future], Vestiti-stati d'animo [Clothes-states of mind]). His Tappeti-natura [Nature-carpets] date to 1965, views of landscapes worked in polyurethane and sold by the metre, like industrial products. One of the theorists and founders of the Arte Povera movement, he abandoned art in 1968 and in the 1980's set about studying the new technologies.
